A film director gathers his favorite actresses, those he worked with and those he loved. He wants to make a film about women but he doesn’t reveal much: he observes them, takes cue, until his imaginary throw them into another era, in a past where the noise of the sewing machines fills a workplace handled and populated by women, where men have minor and marginal roles and cinema...。该影片讲述了女主人公金晓惠大学毕业后，不顾家人的反对，留在北京追寻梦想。由于奶奶病危，金晓惠回到自己家乡敦化，并在雁鸣湖附近一个小学教授孩子美术、音乐并整理家谱。整理家谱中，她得知自己原来是一位名正言顺的“格格”。随着真相浮出水面，一个爱情故事，也随之呈现。。
