In court Edith reveals all to an angry ...。故事发生在第二次世界大战期间，钢琴家亨利（保罗·亨雷德 Paul Henreid 饰）决定带着妻子安（埃琳诺·帕克 Eleanor Parker 饰）乘船逃往国外躲避战乱，哪知道却因为未能获得出境证，而遭到了海关的拒绝。与此同时，安目睹了一场爆炸案的发生，一辆驶往港口的汽车在空袭之中灰飞烟灭。回到家后，倍感绝望的亨利决定自杀，深爱丈夫，却同样无计可施走投无路的安也决定追随丈夫的脚步。哪知道镜头一转，亨利和安出现在了一艘正在行驶的轮船上，让安感到震惊的是，船上的这些乘客，竟然就是自己先前在爆炸案中所看到的那些乘坐在被炸毁的汽车上的人们。夫妻两人很快就意识到，这些人其实早就已经死了，只是他们自己不知道而已。。
