圣山脚下居住的贫困牧民巴彦梦想着一夜暴富，儿子达巴纳考上了自治区的高中，但是他没跟父亲讲……富裕牧民蒙和一心要帮助他们，蒙和的女儿澈丽梦也为达巴纳的失学而十分焦急。下乡来蹲点的帮扶干部珠拉想帮助他们改变生活，可爱面子的巴彦不领情，拒绝加入蒙和的牧民互助联户牧场。自负的巴彦受了别人的骗把全家仅有的30只羊卖掉，买了两头假奶牛……无奈之下巴彦又做起贩羊生意，被送进派出所，蒙和把他领回来，几个牧民要出卖草场，巴彦欣喜若狂，妻子桃尔根反对，发生激烈冲突，家庭支离破碎。在珠拉和蒙和的帮助下，几经周折，巴彦噩梦醒来，承包草场，埋头苦干，实现了脱贫之梦。达巴纳和澈丽梦告别圣山，踏上了上学之路，草原上牧人的梦想还在继续……。This film marks the directorial debut of Robert Benayoun.
